Tax Advisor Fees
Transparency is important to me—including when it comes to my fees. Based on the information you provide, you’ll receive a clear estimate of the expected costs before we begin working together. This way, you’ll know early on what to expect and can plan the next steps at your own pace.
Fees for my services are generally based on the Tax Advisor Fee Regulation (StBVV) , which establishes the legal framework for the fees charged for tax advisory services. In appropriate cases, services may also be billed on the basis of an individual fee agreement (e.g., hourly rates or flat fees).
Typical cost ranges for ongoing support
The specific fee depends, in particular, on the scope and complexity of your matter. Another key factor is whether complete and finalized documents are already available, or whether, for example, accounting records, records, or specific details first need to be prepared, reviewed, and coordinated with the tax authorities. Complete and well-prepared documents help keep the amount of work involved—and thus the costs—as low as possible.
The following figures provide a rough orientation for typical cases (plus applicable VAT):
- Income tax return with multiple sources of income
(e.g. foreign income, rental income): approx. €300–1,000 per year - Tax returns for freelancers/sole proprietorships (incl. EÜR / income-surplus-statement)
approx. €500–1,250 per year - Annual financial statements and tax returns for small corporations (incl. e-balance sheet, disclosure)
approx. €1,000–2,500 per year - Financial accounting
approx. €100–€250 per month - Other services
(e.g., assistance with tax audits, review of tax assessment notices, ongoing specific questions, applications): approx. €115 per hour
In appropriate cases—particularly for services that are clearly defined and easy to plan (e.g., ongoing support for a holding GmbH) – billing based on flat fees may be agreed upon as an alternative.
Before we get started, we’ll discuss together what scope of services makes sense for you and what the estimated cost range will be.
Consulting, Structuring and Planning
For in-depth consulting, structuring, and tax planning, the amount of work involved depends heavily on your goals and the complexity of the project. Sometimes a brief verbal initial assessment is sufficient to provide guidance; in other cases, a detailed written opinion or even an expert report is advisable.
For example, a general assessment of a potential vacation home purchase several years in the future differs significantly from short-term tax guidance regarding the acquisition of a commercial building or the restructuring of a company. For such in-depth consultations that go beyond the usual ongoing inquiries, I will discuss your specific consulting needs and the fee with you in advance in a transparent manner.
Initial consultation
For specific tax questions, you can take advantage of a initial consultation. For consumers, the fee for this is legally capped at a maximum of €190 plus VAT. If the initial consultation is followed by a further engagement, the fee for the initial consultation may be credited in full or in part toward the subsequent fee.
